Adhuc Semper ParatusThe Second Dragoons Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable purposes (in accordance with section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code) to provide financial assistance to members of the armed services and their families and those who have provided honorable assistance to U.S. servicemembers. Houston Students Send Care Package to Troops in KandaharA group of Houston students have continued their annual tradition of collecting goods to send to US troops in Afghanistan for the third year in a row. They collected ten boxes of care package goods (trail mix, socks, beef jerky, paper back books, etc.). Eight high school sophomores participated (picture of six below). The goods were sent to a Stryker platoon at an outpost near Kandahar (part of 25th ID). The EE Mixon Second Dragoons Foundation is proud to have provided funds (~$400) to ship the boxes to Afghanistan. Christine NussioHOW OUR MILITARY PRESENCE IN EUROPE CONTRIBUTED TO THE END OF THE COLD WAR Daniel Farley and Houston Friends Send Care Packages to 2nd Stryker Cavalry RegimentDaniel Farley and some of his Houston buddies sent Care Packages to 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment in Afghanistan. The E.E. Mixon Second Dragoon Foundation helped with the shipping costs. Iraqi Interpretor and Family Settles Into American LifeIn recognition of the critical political and language support provided by brave Iraqis to U.S. cavalrymen at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Second Dragoons Foundation has provided support to these Iraqis and their families as they moved to the U.S. under a special congressional program. Three EEMSDF Scholarships Awarded in 2010This year we are awarding 3 partial college scholarships either to soldiers who have served in one of the cavalry regiments or the children of those who have served. SSG Brian Freeman Scholarship 2010The Second Dragoons Foundation is proud to have made another contribution to the SSG Brian Freeman scholarship fund in 2010. EEMSDF Sends Care Packages to 2nd Stryker Cavalry RegimentThe founders of the 2nd Dragoons Foundation served in the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Germany during the end of the Cold War. The unit has been renamed the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment and is deploying to Afghanistan. In support of the unit, the son of one of our founders will conduct a care package drive to supply the troopers of G Company with needed goods. The effort is being undertaken by a group of Houston high schoolers led by Daniel Farley, and we appreciate their effort for the second year in a row. EEMSDF Contribute to Houston Care Package DriveThe EEMSDF contributed $420 to ship care packages collected by Daniel Farley and friends in Houston, TX. The teens collected care package materials at school over the week of Veteran's Day, then stuffed the collections into approximately 115 shoe boxes (each quite full). The care packages are headed to C Company, 5-20th Infantry BN, 2d IN Division. C Co is at a remote base in Iraq with no Army amenities. The efforts of Farley and his friends are proof to the men of 2/20 2ID that we appreciate their work, courage, and sacrifice for our nation. |
